why does my canon imagerunner printer print colors in the wrong shade?
I have a canon imagerunner c3220 in our office. Our marketing lady is trying to print some publications that have pictures. Things that are supose to be green are like a lime yellow color.Also some of the text that are supose to have gray shaded boxes behind them dont show up. There is new toner in the printer. This issue happens with all programs like Word, publisher and Adobe photoshop. The support company said it was a network issue. Not to sure about that. This printer/copier is on a network and thats how these machines print to it. These computers are windows xp pro.
The Canon ImageRunner series is designed for Business Printing. It was NEVER intended on doing color matched output. For that level of quality you would need a FULL SIZE PRODUCTION unit such as the Canon CLC large series laser printer/copier of 2400 series and higher. THOSE are made for perfect color matched output.
BUT! There are a few things that you can do for now. It will involve some cost and LOTS of time thru a HUGE learning curve. In a nutshell. Scan, choose colors, and print out as CMYK. Get your printer serviced FIRST! Calibrate your monitor and then your software gamut – CMYK – and the printer. CHANGE the printer to match your monitor colors thru the printer calibration routine. IF you bought a RIP Server, calibrate through that. IF not then use the printer drivers color correction options.
If none of this works and/or you are lost over your head. Then get an outside consultant to come in and help you. An advisory visit can cost from $75-$150. This may be your best alternative if time is a problem. You DO NOT want your support company as they have already demonstrated their customer care. Get an OUTSIDE contractor from an independent Pre-Press Service Bureau.
